Our expert instructors offer comprehensive lessons on a wide range of orchestral percussion instruments.
Orchestral percussion includes those instruments used in orchestras and concert bands mainly in classical music and related styles.
Students enrolled at Musical Expressions study all aspects of orchestral playing; with marimba, snare drum and timpani being the three most basic areas of study.
Lessons do not usually include drum set studies. (Visit Drum Lessons for more info.)
Percussion Lessons for School Band & Orchestra Programs
(For students enrolled in a school concert band/orchestra percussion program.)
Our teachers are well trained in all areas of school band programs. They can teach snare drum, mallet, timpani and more. Are you getting ready for an Illinois Music Education Association (IMEA) audition? We can help with that, too!
Lessons are tailored around each student’s experience level and interests. Students will learn basic drum skills while learning to read sheet music. These basics will prepare students for solos, ensembles and auditions.

“Stephen has been a drum student with Ron [Spaeth] for several years. Ron has a great teaching personality and our son looks forward to every lesson. We will continue to recommend Musical Expressions to friends and family members.” – Christina G.
